Parsha Thoughts: Titzaveh 5776

Moshe is told in this week’s parsha to bring Aaron close to serve as the high priest of G-d. This is typically understood to mean that Aaron would be reticent to take on the new responsibility of priesthood. Rabbi Meir of Premishlan explain homiletically that Moshe was want to reside in solitude and apart from the klal (his tent was pitched outside of the camp). What G-d is telling Moshe is, bring Aaron close, assume some of the elements of Aaron’s personality to be meurav im habriyos. While is is important as as leader to remain apart and distant from the collective, the pathway to greatness is not strictly in residing alone and developing your own personality in a vacuum, but you must be able to also engage and enable others in their own growth and success.
